Promoting Childhood Obesity?...

So, we have been casually trying to potty train Dodger. In an attempt to get Dodger excited about the idea I bought a whole bag of suckers and told him when he goes potty he can get a sucker. Not long after that I was talking to a friend and she was offering her tips and suggestions. Well, her number one suggestion...NEVER EVER offer food or candy of any kind as a reward for good behavior. It will just promote childhood obesity. Oops!! I guess that makes sense but on the other hand I say whatever works...! Dodger went pee pee on the potty last Sunday and pee pee and poo poo on the potty today!! We are slowly making progress and I hope our luck continues! He was really excited to receive his special suckers for going on the potty and for going to nursery without getting sad! What happened to the good old days when a treat was just a treat and you didn't have to worry about promoting obesity ect, ect...Well, I'm still a believer in whatever works (in moderation of course)! Funny things is that 2 out of the 3 suckers haven't even been touched, he only ate one and only cared about earning them not necessarily eating them!

Don't you just love potty training? I agree with you, whatever works! Looks like he likes his reward anyways.

I would give Dorin an entire cake AND let him eat it on the pot if he would just sit on it for longer than a minute. =)

I definately think every kid is different so you almost can't take much advice from anyone. What works for some, does nothing for others.
Thanks for the comment about my cards! I was sad to have missed out - can't wait to see what everyone else made.

It is so nice to have your kids potty trained (unless you go to a park with no bathroom or you are in the middle of checking out at the grocery store) but whatever works! Plus once he is trained he won't even need the treat (at least that's how Rylan was. Good luck--so fun. And yes Crispy Beef-YUM!

The only people promoting childhood obesity are the mother's that don't allow their children any treats! Then when they finally get one they can't stop or start stashing them in their pockets. You've seen them a hundred times! Usually at church functions!lol! GOOD JOB, Jarjar!!

wow, awesome! Christian will only pee on the potty, but we will take it for now LOL. We give the same treats, dum dums. They are small, perfect little rewards! Good luck, hope it won't be long now!

first of all...lol at dorey's comment. Second of all, whatever works is right. 3rd of all, have I ever mentioned the potty training in less than a day. It might work with him. hehehehe.

Do WHATEVER works! I'm with Dorey, I would let Carter eat dinner and desert on the potty trainer...if he would sit on it.

Don't worry, with your figure your kids won't have to work at staying in shape!
